New Smyrna Beach Area - Indian River Lagoon - Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Report

November 9, 2025

Fall bite has been on fire for October and November! Colder weather has begun to dip this way with some mornings into the upper 40’s. Mosquito Lagoon and the Indian River Lagoon has been the place to be for a hot redfish bite on the flats with nearly every day seeing well into double digits landed. Big redfish are still being caught in Ponce Inlet but with the spawning season about to wrap up it’s at tail end of that bite. Still catching some speckled trout here and there in the Lagoons, with hopes we start seeing some bigger ones up shallow now that the cold has started. Snook have disappeared off the flats but you can still find them at the bridges and docks at night. Pretty much full for November with only 2 days open next week. The Christmas and New Years holiday is super busy every year so don’t wait till last minute for scheduling. Gift certificates are available if looking for a gift for a loved one.

Have you checked out my fishing report videos on Youtube? Head over to my Youtube Channel and give them a view. I break down what’s biting for us at the moment and include some photos of clients from the past month. If you want to stay in the loop subscribe to the channel and give those videos a thumbs up.

The redfish bite in Mosquito Lagoon and the Indian River Lagoon has been on fire! For most of October when the water was super high we were catching 20-30 redfish every day. The catching dropped off a little as the water levels fell, but then the cold weather came last week and fired them all up again! Should be a red hot bite for another few weeks. December and January we will start to see some big schools forming on the flats as water gets cleaner and water levels drop condensing the fish. I am pretty much done looking for big redfish over 40” until early spring. While they are always around, it’s a lethargic bite, and we are entering the prime time of year to be fishing the shallow grass flats in the Lagoons every day.

Still catching some speckled trout fairly consistent every day. We are past prime time for catching big numbers though like we do in the summer. The next few months, however, are when we start to swing for some big gator trout laying up in the shallows. Big trout will start moving up into the shallow water following the bait for the next couple months and we usually find some big ones on live mullet or soft plastics.

Snook are on the move now that the colder weather is showing up. Actually this is great news for me as I love targeting them in the backwater holes when they are piled up by the hundreds. Some days we catch 30-40+ snook a day on live bait and lures. The big ones are lethargic in the colder water but the fish under 24” are ravenous during the next few months. There are some big snook still at the bridges in the dark. Recent year’s we have had a good bite again for big snook in November and December so we’ll see how that pans out.

Pretty much full for November, but I do have 2 days open next week. Have dates available for December and January. Don't wait until last minute. Short notice if available. Text me or call me at 386-212-4931 or even send me an email to secure a date. Read my fishing charter page to view the top reasons why you should book your trip with me today! I look forward to fishing with you soon.
